Tipping

What is the rule of thumb for tipping?

In Europe, Taxis/Drivers/Guides a tip of 5 to 10% is customary. In Restaurants a tip of 5 to 10% is customary and generally a service charge is added to your check.
On Cruise Ships, plan on tipping $8-$9 per person, per day, for maid service, wait staff and other services. This is personally handed to staff the last evening of the cruise (you'll find envelopes placed in your cabin that day). Just consider it part of the cost of the cruise and, unless the service was terrible, graciously give it to them. Tipping is really their pay, and most cruise service staff members only make between $65 and $100 per month in salary from the cruise line!

What to Pack

What type of clothing and items do I need to pack for my trip?

One of the most common questions we receive from our clients is:
"What type of clothing do I need to pack for my trip?"
The answer largely depends on what type of vacation you are taking and what type of weather you will encounter in the area(s) that you are traveling to.
Most importantly pack only the items you will need. Most of the airlines have baggage and weight limits and the majority of the places you will travel to have Laundry Service or coin-operated launderettes available, so pack lightly.

Travel Insurance

Top 10 reasons to buy Travel Insurance

That means you can cancel your trip if you get sick - and be reimbursed for any non-refundable expenses relating to your trip.
2. Common carriers with financial difficulties are becoming increasingly common. Purchasing trip cancellation/ interruption coverage from a third party like Travelex can protect you and your trip investment against such an occurrence.
3. Travelex plans offer 24-hour worldwide assistance. Call toll-free to access our 24 hour medical assistance helpline to receive advice or get information on English-speaking doctors in your area.
4. The trip interruption benefit covers for up to $1000 in non-refundable expenses for strikes that affect public transportation.
5. Whether your bag is lost or merely delayed, you can be reimbursed for the purchase of clothing and personal articles so you can enjoy your vacation.
6. The illness or injury of family members is also included under covered reasons to cancel. It’s important to remember that even if you are fit to travel, other events may make departing on your trip unthinkable.
7. You arrive in your connecting city but your flight is long gone and the next flight is not until tomorrow morning. The travel delay offers coverage for accommodations and meals.
8. When a medical emergency happens far away from home and far away from proper medical facilities, you want to ensure you receive adequate care. Our medial evacuation benefit will cover emergency transportation for you and a companion to the nearest facility or back home.
9. Both domestic and international terrorist acts are covered reasons to cancel your trip provided the act occurs within 30 days of your scheduled departure date.
10. Emergency assistance services will assist you in reporting your lost documents and make arrangements for an emergency cash transfer should that be required. As well, the baggage benefit provides coverage for loss due to the unauthorized use of your card.
